Set amidst a russet landscape punctuated by koppies and scrubland; this is a land that time has mercifully left in peace. Prince Albert has a small but charming and friendly local population and many beautiful and authentic Cape Dutch and Victorian styled buildings. Birding, hiking, cycling and stargazing are among the popular activities on offer for visitors to the village.

Prince Albert is a town at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains, in South Africa’s Western Cape. It's ringed by vineyards and fruit and olive farms. Local history exhibits in the Fransie Pienaar Museum include fossils and a working moonshine distillery.

The nearby 19th-century Swartberg Pass runs through Swartberg Nature Reserve and has dramatic mountain views. The reserve is dotted with caves featuring San rock art.

BREAKFAST

Breakfast is served in the garden under the trees in summer weather permitting and in winter in the main guest lounge with fire place.The generous Onse Rus farmhouse breakfast is a real treat: homemade muesli, fresh farm dairy products, fruit juice, bacon and eggs with mouth-watering local preserves... and just wait until you taste the cream!

We are fully licensed and cater for large tour groups. Dinner is served upon request with a minimum of 4 guests booking - you might fancy a simple omelette or a three course Karoo dinner - chat to Lisa. If you prefer to eat out we can recommend a number of excellent restaurants all within walking distance from the guesthouse.
